Tired Of Fighting Restless Leg Syndrome

Many people suffer from lower leg pain without even realizing what the real cause of the pain may be. It is normal to perceive any lower leg pain as signs of stress on the muscles or temporary fatigue. However, if your lower leg pain or restless legs seems to be erratic and it prevents you from getting sound sleep at night then it is not merely a case of physical stress. There are countless cases where people suffer from lower leg pain and that disrupt their sleeping schedule. In such cases, you may have developed the RLS or may be suffering from difficult condition that need addressing.

What Is Restless Leg Syndrome?

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) which is also known as Willis-Ekbom disease is a neurological disorder characterized by an irresistible urge to move one's body to stop uncomfortable or odd sensations. It most commonly affects the legs, but can affect the arms, torso, and even phantom limbs. Moving the affected body part modulates the sensations, providing temporary relief.

Causes Of Restless Legs

RLS may be caused by one or more of these reasons - chronic kidney disease, diabetes, iron deficiency, Parkinson's disease, peripheral neuropathy, pregnancy, use of certain medications such as caffeine, calcium channel blockers, lithium, or narcoleptics or withdrawal from sedatives. The RLS condition is also commonly passed down in families. This may be a factor when symptoms start at a younger age.

Treatment Of RLS

The biggest problem in treating jumpy legs (RLS) is that most doctors and even people suffering from it do not get to the root cause. While several health factors can trigger restless legs or restless legs syndrome, it in reality may be an implication of underlying venous disease.

Depending on the intensity of the problem of RLS you have been observing, you can try out a few modes of treatment. Getting diagnosed is always the better way to go about but if one wishes to treat the jumpy legs on their own then some further research would be very important.

This condition can get pretty severe and disrupt normal life by preventing even the minimum sleep requirements for an adult. Even if you have the slightest indication of struggling with the difficult and server condition, consulting a doctor would be a wise move. You can always get in touch with your family physician to discuss everything prior to consuming pain relief pills or buying some ointments.
